Before starting any new e-learning project, make sure to review
all relevant technical details.
General
Questions
- Will
this be a CD-ROM or Web-based program?
- Are
we communicating and coordinating with our information technology
department? What are their guidelines or standards?
- Have
all technical specifications been communicated to the vendors,
consultants, and other team members?
- Who
will be responsible for testing the program?
- Who
is the single point of contact on our team to handle all
technical questions?
- Will
this program place any files permanently on our student's
hard drives? Will this impact any other existing applications?
CD-ROM
Questions
- Are
the audio and video formats used supported by student computers?
- Is
the installation procedure easy to understand?
- Is
there an uninstall procedure that is easy to follow?
- Is
student tracking required? How will students report their
final test scores?
- When
will the program content need to be updated? Have the update,
duplication, and distribution costs been considered?
Web-Based
Training Questions
- How
are students accessing the Web, and what is the bandwidth?
- Do
the program's media files fit within our bandwidth constraints?
What will be the longest time a student has to wait for
a piece of content?
- Do
we have all the plug-ins required of the program?
- Will
the program integrate with our existing learning management
system or other student-tracking system, or is it creating
a new system?
- Which
browser will students be using? Which version of the browser?
