Many of you have encouraged me to get more prolific with the book summaries. You say:
* "I want to try it before I buy it..."
* "I don't have time for the whole book but I want to stay informed..."

New 4-page Book Summary:

Leading E-Learning by William Horton

Well here's a summary for Leading E-Learning, which is the first book in ASTD's e-learning series. The author, William Horton, knows his stuff and is quite in demand on the seminar circuit these days.

This book is packed with interesting details which means my simple summary really doesn't do it justice. It provides a good e-learning overview to those who are trying to introduce e-learning in their organization.

New White Papers on www.e-LearningGuru.com

Visions 2020: Transforming Education and Training Through Advanced Technologies (US Dept of Commerce, Sept 2002)) - Visioning exercise about the future of e-learning, primarily in the area of K - 12.

eLearning: Panacea or Culture Change? (AdVal Group) - Very readable introduction to business change and value of e-learning. Most unique is "Ten Stage Route Map to Success."

Distance Learning at the Tipping Point (Eduventures Sept 2002) - While much of the corporate e-learning market is moving in slow motion, this study credibly shows where others are moving like an Indy car -- namely the higher education market. (You'll need free log-in to access.)

Finally, on a personal note...

Thanks for all the well wishes and restaurant recommendations before my trip to Rome. Jet lag hit me harder than I expected but the trip was great. Amazing history, amazing art, amazing people, and amazing food.

I stood in the spot where the Catholic Church tried Galileo in 1633 for his heretical teachings that the Earth revolves around the sun. Made me think about our modern day efforts at change management and the reluctance of many to see what new technologies are clearly showing.

Here's to living and learning,
