Releases LCMS Report 2003
I just
finished reading this 777 page report producted by Bryan
Chapman and the Brandon Hall research team. Just as the
LCMS industry has evolved, so too has Brandon Hall's research
methodolgy. This report is the culmination of a seven month
process, where 28 systems were reviewed in detail (using
a 32-page questionnaire which is almost twice the size of
their previous survey methodology from 2001). In addition
to the questionnaire, each system was put through a hands-on
trial to validate survey answers and to get first hand experience
with a standard content bundle.

Gartner
releases LMS Analysis
Gartner
released a seven page research note on February 13 titled,
"2003 LMS Magic Quadrant: Enter the Powerhouse Vendors".
They note -- as I did in January -- that traditional LMS
providers are now beginning to feel the heat from the enterprise
software companies (ie, IBM, Oracle, Siebel, PeopleSoft).
Gartner
is known for its "Magic Quadrant" which is 2 x
2 grid plotting each vendor's vision and ability to execute.
I always thought it a shame that such thorough research
always got boiled down to such a simplistic snapshot. Plateau,
Saba, Docent, Thinq and Pathlore are identified as the leaders
at this time.
