Learning Economics Group

There's an exciting new organization called The Learning Economics Group (LEG). LEG's mission is to study the strategic value of learning, both formal and informal, and it's economic impact on organizations. Given the plethora of PhD's in the founding group, this looks like a serious forum for some serious research that just might get noticed. (Finally!)

Who Says There's No Money in Online Learning?

Well here's one company that is making a fortune with e-learning...

Sylvan Learning used to be all about tutoring and test-preparation. Then they stumbled into online universities with a focus on international higher education. Enrollment went from 4,800 students in 1998 to 130,000 in 2004.

To shed their tutoring image, they sold off their original division and renamed the company Laureate. Laureate's income and stock price have doubled in the last year alone.
