Dashboard
Makes You Rich, Smart, and Handsome!
OK,
maybe I'm stretching it a bit. But look what Amy has to
say...
"The
dashboard is one of the coolest pages I've seen. I've
sent it to the entire team -- it's something we can use
daily." -- Amy Graft, PhD.
Over
500 of you are now visiting the Dashboard each day for one-stop
viewing of all the day's e-learning news and information.
Just added Edu RSS News Ticker (thanks Stephen!)
and many new blogs.

Huge Boon to Mobile Learning
Mobile
learning, workflow learning, learning (truly) on demand
-- whatever you want to call it -- is building momentum
but needs wireless high-speed connectivity for the holy
grail to really arrive. The 802.16 standard is the WiFi
technology that works across hundreds of meters, rather
than a few hundred feet like today's common WiFi technology.
Vendor conference pegs roll-out date of this critical technology
in 2006.

The industry is moving at the speed of light and the users

Shortage
of Instructional Designers in India
The
Times of India published an article on June 17 (can't
link to it because seems to be lost in the ether...) describing
the boom in the off-shore e-learning industry, but notes
that there is a severe shortage of instructional designers.
India does not have colleges or universities that offer
Instructional design and technology courses the way many
schools in the United States do. Planting seeds to remedy
this problem Brainvisa and the Symbiosis Institute of Mass
Communication (SIMC) have partnered to begin offering advanced
studies in instructional design.
If you
read the article carefully (and do a little currency conversion)
it's also interesting and revealing to note that the salary
ranges for many e-learning positions are about one fifth
of what they are here in the States.
Thanks
to Ankush Gupta at Brainvisa
for sending this my way. Read an excerpt of the article
